RENAULT Trucks History

The success story of Renault, as well as all similar stories began with simple things. A certain Louis Renault, keen on cars, in 1897 decided to take up the modernization of the car. His job was simply to improve the technology. A goal: just conquer the hill. It had a slight slope of 13 degrees.

The first heavy equipment began to massively descend from the assembly line in 1906. For the development, the company "Berliet" was used. Trucks were not so popular as cars, so their growth was small. In 1915, the first all-wheel drive trucks with the name "ER" began to conquer both France and Europe. Among other legends Renault: FT17 and LH, released in the first quarter of the 20th century.

During the war, the company actively cooperated with the state. In particular, on these machines soldiers were delivered to the front. And during the second world Louis Renault died, and the company passed into state submission.

In 1954, a new plant was assembled in the United States to assemble cars using Renault technology. In fact, opening up new enterprises, Renault has ceased to be a separate link in the auto deal, now it is more characteristic to call this firm a joint concern. In the 60's, they were the first to produce a million cars a year. Among the legends: Renault 4CV and Fregate.

Also did not lag behind trucks. For the far-behind, it was almost the only reliable option. With the assistance of Saviem, where Renault was at the time, Berliet T100, a mastodon in the world of heavy vehicles, was launched. Later, various modifications were made on its basis, by 1975 they became full-fledged Renault trucks, since "Berliet" completely passed under the wing of the French auto giant.

At the moment, Renault owns shares of Dacia (almost 100%), AvtoVAZ (controlling interest), Nissan, Daimler, SamsungVolvo. Also has its representation in F1
