DEUTZ Brand History

More than 130 years, Deutz from Germany, produces engines. The emblem of this company is the guarantor of quality and reliability on all diesel and gas engines. All this is achieved, thanks to the vast amount of experience of engineers. The variety of engines in the early 2000s was more than a hundred copies for various purposes. The history of the company's success begins in 1864.

In 1979, with great success, the creation of a future prototype for future engines with the compression of a mixture of fuel and air is being completed. Despite the fact that Maybach and Daimler left them, the company shows its willingness to become a pioneer in its field. After 7 years, Otto defended his doctorate in philosophy at the then-known University of Wurzburg.

The first engines, working on a gasoline mixture, saw the light. They were much more economical, had smaller dimensions and enough power. In 1896 the era of machine building began. In the same year, such engines were first installed on locomotives.

But the history of progress did not stop there. In 1898, a completely new engine was created, in which the ignition was due to compression. Its author was Rudolf Diesel. Hence their designation as diesel.

In the early twentieth century, Deutz patented the first sample of this engine. Demand for engines grew, and the model range became more and more. After the release of the Deutz-Bugatti car in 1912, Ettore Bugatti (the creator of this model), the management decided to head towards the tractor construction. The first copy came off the assembly line in 1924. This tractor was named Deutz MTN 222.

Together with this, they continued to produce engines for a variety of purposes and aggregates. In 1921 the company again changed its name to Motorenfabrik Deutz AG. In 1938, the company changed its name again, this time at Klockner-Humboldt-Deutz AG (or KHD for short). On this contribution to the engine industry is not over. The development department created a unique diesel engine by air cooling. Then came the moment of the company's demise. During the Second World War, aviation destroyed more than 70% of the concern. For a while, even the manufacture of small parts Deutz.

The stage of "restoration of glory" began in 1949. The management decided to return to the manufacture of tractors working on diesel and resume sales of parts Deutz. After the war, the goods sold out as "hot pies". Then, the assembly of buses and trucks was restored. At that time they came out under the name Magirus-Deutz and rightly held the bar of the highest quality in Europe.

In 1964, a technical center was built nearby not far from Cologne. This gave a new chance for the company, which was still rising from its knees. Cars KHD participated in the Moscow exhibitions. After the construction of the BAM began, Deutz AG completed an order from the USSR with a capacity of 10,000 dump trucks. What is most interesting is that some of those machines work and sow the day.

After the sale of Deutz parts to the Soviet Union, and also permits for the manufacture of diesel engines, German engineers began to work together with the Soviet ones. The result of their work was the testing of the engine for the Ural-375D. The design itself has been improved so that the machine can operate in a temperature range of -40 to +40 degrees. Cooperation took place in 1966-1980. As a result, in the territory of Kazakhstan, a plant was constructed that could produce up to 4000 engines a year. However, the launch of the plant before 1991 failed. Then came the collapse of the Soviet Union. However, the experience gained through joint work has not been lost in vain for either side.

In 1975, Magirus-Deutz disappeared. The production department moved to IVECO. This concern controlled FIAT. And Deutz AG continued its existence as a manufacturer of motors and tractors. 78 year became an anniversary 4 million engine. In 1989, the same anniversary was marked by a diesel engine. In 1995, the Tractor Department was with the Italian Same Group. And Deutz AG returned to its very first job, developing and manufacturing engines for other firms. That's the story of the company Deutz AG made a full circle.
