Daewoo Motor Co., Ltd., a South Korean firm specializing in the production of automobiles, headquartered in Seoul.

Daewoo was founded in 1972 by South Korean company Shinjin Motor and concern General Motors (USA).

1983 - Creation of a new Korean-American joint venture named Daewoo Motors. Its founders are the corporation Daewoo and the concern General Motors.

The first model of the brand was "Le Mans", built on the basis of the first generation of "Opel Kadett E". Today, without any exaggeration, we can say that Le Mans is the most popular car among new foreign cars in the domestic market.

Its assembly has been moved from Korea to various branches for several years (in Uzbekistan - UzDaewoo, in Russia - "Red Aksai" and in Romania - Rodae). The model can be considered with a little stretch of the domestic car. The last generation of the ever-memorable Opel Kadett E (West Germany 1984-1991), which was licensed in 1986 in Korea (under the name Pontiac Le Mans for export to the US and Canada and under the name Daewoo Racer for the local market).

After another upgrade in March 1995, the model was renamed Nexia (Cielo for Korea).
1985 - Start of production of the "Tico" model.

1992 - Completion of cooperation with General Motors and transformation into an independent enterprise within the industrial group Daewoo.

1993 - The appearance of the model "Prince" based on the units "Opel Record / Senator".

1994 - Exit of the model "Espero", the body of which was designed in the design studio Bertone on the chassis of the Opel model "Ascona". Modernization of "Le Mans", a new hypostasis was called "Nexia". The company ranks third in Korea in the production of cars. The task is to become the leader of the Korean automotive industry.

1996-1997- The appearance of the models "Nubira", "Leganza", "Lanos", "D.Arts".

2000 - The creditors of the South Korean company Daewoo decided by a majority vote to split Daewoo into three independent parts. As a result, three new companies appeared. The first of these, Daewoo International, will deal exclusively with trading operations. The second, Daewoo Construction, will specialize in development and production.

In 2004, Tata Motors, India's largest manufacturer of cars and commercial vehicles, was absorbed.

Tata Daewoo has production of assembly trucks from SKD-kits in India and Pakistan. Tata Daewoo-Korea and Afzal Motors-Pakistan signed an agreement on technical cooperation on December 12, 2005 in Pakistan. Afzal Motors factory on SKD-assembly was opened by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shaukat Aziz on January 8, 2007.

Afzal Motors assembles a wide range of Daewoo commercial vehicles, including truck tractors, chassis and dump trucks. Tata Daewoo and Afzal Motors are going to export the Daewoo trucks assembled in Pakistan to the countries of the Middle East and Central Asia in the next stage.
