CROWN Forklifts History

The history of Crown Equipment Corporation began with a modest firm in the small town of New Bremen, located in Ohio, USA. Today, the company is one of the leaders in the field of loading and unloading operations, producing a wide range of high-quality warehouse equipment.

Crown was founded in 1945 by two brothers - Carl and Allen Dick. At the moment, the president of the company is James Dick III - great-grandson of the founders.

Initially, the company specialized in manufacturing temperature regulators for coal furnaces. Despite the fact that the product was gradually getting out of use, it managed to establish a fully profitable operation of the enterprise located in the old warehouse.

In the early 1950s, the company was changing its development. Reacting to the booming television industry, Crown began to produce rotary mechanisms for TV antennas and became a well-known manufacturer of these devices until the 21st century with the drop in the popularity of analog antennas and the transition to digital broadcasting.

In 1957 the company established a department specializing in the production and maintenance of warehouse equipment. The success came quite quickly: Crown soon became popular and began to be used in warehouses for various purposes.

The first exit "to light" occurred in 1966. It was then that the company declared itself to the whole world, opening the first enterprise outside of America - in Australia. Up to now, it remains the leader in terms of sales and service levels in the Asia-Pacific region.

In Europe, the Crown model was first launched in 1968, when the concern acquired from Steinbock a plant located in Ireland. The main emphasis was on the production of manual hydraulic carts. In the same year, in London, the first service center for equipment was opened for enterprises located near the airport. In the 1970s, Crown supplies warehouse equipment to Europe, selling sales through independent dealers.

Today, Crown produces a variety of warehouse equipment: loaders, stackers, trucks, reach trucks, pickers. Sales and services for equipment maintenance are handled by a distribution network consisting of companies owned by Crown and independent distributors operating in major markets around the world.

In addition, the company is known for its innovative approach to software and security issues. QuickPick Remote systems and others allow you to remotely manage a fleet of warehouse equipment, facilitating the work of operators. Integration of modern technologies into logistics processes is one of the priorities of Crown.

Dealers and sales managers are trained in the production of all disciplines, and then consolidate their knowledge by practicing in corporate offices located in New Bremen, USA and Munich, Germany. Opened in the 1980s, the Munich office provides marketing research, procurement, engineering and new engineering developments for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India.

Crown centers, and a network of international independent dealers (more than 200 different firms) operate in approximately 100 cities.

The management office is located in the city of New Bremen, USA, with a small warehouse in which the history of success began. Large international bases are located in Sydney, Australia (1966), Queretaro, Mexico (1973), Roding, Germany (1986), Suzhou, China (2006). Crown is committed to expanding the partner network and is always looking for new markets and challenges.
